Why develop staff?

Some questions to about the training landscape in SA:

  1. Why should the government impose a skills levy for companies to train and develop their staff?
  2. Would employers not train if they were not forced?
  3. 1% – do you really spend that less (if at all) on your people development?
  4. Is all the stress of work place skills plans and annual training reports worth the minimal return for your spend?
  5. What if they end up leaving anyways? Isn’t that a waste?
  6. What’s the real reason why you train, or would train?
  7. Is it measurable?
