Strategic Planning - Workshops & Seminars

Why Engage in Strategic Planning?

Strategic planning helps teams gain a competitive advantage, and win in the marketplace. It's the game plan to secure sustainability, react, and make turnarounds. Strategy clarifies motive, gets buy-in from top managers, and sets the tone for implementation.

It makes companies relevant to changing times, clarifies markets, financial plans, internal policies, efficiencies, procedures, culture, and learning needed.

The planning phase involves necessary pre-work and gathering historic information. Planning how to best plan strategically is ironically the trick. A well-crafted workshop will engage with management to develop mission, vision, values (MVV); internal and external audits (SWOT and competitive analysis); establishing long term strategies; choosing particular strategies; establish plans to implement and measure performance in the key areas of the business and it's people. Our approach is to customize, facilitate and document produce a comprehensive strategic planning document. This can be translated into an easy 1-page Strategic Map to communicate to stakeholders.

This is the execution or implementation phase. Unless there's implementation, strategic planning is a waste of time. How do we get staff - top to bottom to perform? Breaking down annual objectives into months, weeks and days may be key. Good management and monitoring of strategic achievements and progress are key. As part of the “action phase”, our approach is to monitor progress through meetings regularly and using automated task management software. “When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates” - Thomas Monson

The last phase in the cycle is the evaluation phase. All strategies, projects, and tasks must be evaluated, reported and scored. The feedback, observation and remedial actions loop are important to stay on track or make urgent changes. This may be subject to changing external and internal factors and may require a change of path.

We use well-designed software tools to track and report to key managers.

By the end of the process, we would be able to achieve the following:

  • Core Ideology of the company (Mission, Vision and Values)
  • Environment Scan (Internal and External Evaluation)
  • Long Term Goals (2 to 3 years)
  • Present and Future Organogram of staff and roles
  • Key strategies selected
  • An action plan with measures, responsibilities and due dates
  • 1 Page Strategic Map
